Mono Cone
About This Spot
Pulling off the highway in Lee Vining, Mono Cone welcomes you like a familiar roadside haven where the pace gently slows to match the hum of friendly chatter and the clinking of milkshake glasses. This is a casual local eatery that carries the quiet, comforting pulse of a small town gathering spot—where travelers pause to refuel both the body and spirit before continuing their journey.
There’s an easygoing rhythm here, the kind that invites you to linger a little longer over a well-loved menu of classic American flavors. The air carries a hint of fresh-cut fries mingled with swirls of creamy soft serve, a perfect foil to the wide open skies outside. Whether you settle in at one of the few cozy indoor tables or choose to embrace the bustling outdoor seating area, every visit feels unhurried and genuine.
Mono Cone’s offerings move beyond the ordinary with thoughtful touches in everything from the sizzle of their burgers to the irresistible creaminess of their ice cream cones. The kitchen feels in tune with its audience—serving up hearty portions of familiar favorites alongside occasional surprises, like a guacamole-topped burger or a tangy pastrami melt, all made with a focus on satisfying hunger and bringing simple joys.
What stands out here is the care in each plate and scoop: food arrives consistently fresh and hearty, ready to please whenever you call it a well-earned break from hiking or road-tripping through the stunning Sierra Nevada landscape. The place hums with a sense of local warmth, where the staff’s easy friendliness and attention add an unmistakable layer of welcome without fuss.
Mono Cone is the kind of spot that feels like one of those hidden but not-so-secret treasures—perfectly at home amidst the quiet mountain town vibes, yet vibrant enough to turn a quick meal into a memorable moment. It’s a plate of something delicious, a creamy cone, and the satisfying feeling that you’ve found a true pause on a busy day’s adventure.

The burgers are really good and the chili dog. The fish was a bit dry. The bathrooms are really clean. They have an eating area outside and few tables inside. Overall I would recommend this place.

Found this little gem on the way to Tahoe. We knew we hit the jackpot when we pulled up and saw the line but don’t let that deter you- the line moved pretty fast. Note- it’s CASH only. I had the guacamole burger no bun, BF had the pastrami cheeseburger. Generous portions and very reasonable. The staff was great , the restaurant very clean. It’s worth a stop!

Yummy well-preparred, and plentiful fast food. when you're wiped from a day of hiking yosemite there's nothing better than burgers, chicken fingers, fries, onion rings, shakes, and ice cream. We may have gone a little nuts. The food is great and so is the staff. Its a charming little roadside fast food place open during the tourist season. Rewarding local business to support when you're on vacation. With the amount of hikeing we did I was happy to pound down some tasty calories too!

One the best places for a burger, a dog or a the best Philly cheese sandwich around. Perfect spot to make memories with your kids. Just around the corner, walking distance, is a spot to part that has a view of mono lake. Lots of parking.

The sundae chocolate ice cream with wip cream and nuts is delicious here. If anyone orders this. It can be enough for 2 people. I would recommend buying one for 2 people. It was too much ice cream for me, to be honest. They have private single restroom . Nice place to eat dessert or a snack.
